7th Annual Treasure Hunt – Answers

Hunters, dear fellow Watsonians, quiz fans,

The 7th Annual Treasure Hunt is now officially closed. I hope you had fun and you liked the questions that I have tried to put together.

We had a good number of participants; perhaps not many groups (only two answers received in that category) but we had six participants for the individual competition.

Hereunder you will find the answers enclosed. I will check the answers in the next days and the results will be posted here by the 12th of September.

  1. Is it the done thing to present the reasoning for our alternative answers, or is that frightfully rude?

  2. I’ll be more than happy to hear the reasoning for any alternate answer, it will help me decide if it’s acceptable as correct or not. When in doubt, I’m more willing to accept than to refuse an alternate answer.

  3. Okay, here’s a big one: Reichenbach Falls is not technically in Meiringen. It’s in the municipality of Schattenhaib. We had much discussion of this before settling on the more general area of “Switzerland” for the answer to sixty.

  4. I’ll start the corrections tonight. The point about Meiringen is valid; in fact, I already had doubts about that question because the wording was not perfect (and I had received requests for clarification).

  5. I must apologize; I had promised to post the results today, but it’s been a terrible week and I haven’t been able to make it. I’ll try to finish within Sunday. I’m sorry.

    1. Look after yourself. No rush for the results.
We’re all more concerned with your well-being than anything else.

  6. Hi, Reggie, Daisy here from the Sound of the Baskervilles team.
I sure hope your weekend is better than the week. Does Italy have the Friday the 13th thing as over here? Full moon?
Anyway, as my teacher son told Margie and me, correcting a test is often times more difficult that writing it.
    Cheers, Daisy/Sheila

  7. I’m sorry to say that there will be a little delay. I have almost finished, but there have been many alternate answers that must be evaluated (some very good and ingenious ones!) and this requires going through the Canon and reading the relevant passages. It took me longer than I thought. Also, to be honest, Saturday the weather was too good not to spend a whole day on the beach after a hard week.
In two or three days you’ll have the results, I promise.
